Tim Holtz in the Making

On Christmas Eve I was playing with my Vagabond making Reindeers for cards.  Will was very interested in what I was doing.  So I asked him if he would like to have a turn.  I got a huge grin and a big Yes.  So he got to cut out a few of the reindeers.  I then let him colour them with Distress inks and the inking tool.

Just look at that technique.  He was actually pretty good at it.  I think it is fantastic that he has an interest in doing craft with me.  He is just so patient.  Just love him so much.

Merry Christmas

Don't you just love Christmas??

I love having 3 boys that get totally excited that Santa is on his way.  I just love our tree.  I goes all the way to the roof.  It looks even better with heaps of presents under it.

Each of the boys have their own Santa sack.  So we put those out for Santa to fill with lots of goodies.  We also put out some chocolates and milk for Santa.

We also put out special Reindeer food.  They look so cute in these little Santa hat containers.

I just loved watching the kids get so excited to out it all out and then rush off to bed.

Christmas Gift Tag

I am going to a clients Christmas Party and we are doing a secret Santa gift exchange.  This client gets all the staff to fill out a form listing the items that they do not like and the gifts that would be ideal.  The person that I got only wants an voucher like itunes.  I did not really want to juts wrap up a voucher and thought it would be much nicer to make them a tag to put it in.  Just makes it feel a little more like Christmas.

I first stamped the tag using a music text stamp and Sepia Archival Ink.  Then I stamped the Merry Christmas using Versamark and clear embossed it.  Next I used the new Tim Holtz Season Distress Ink Festive Berries to colour the card.  I then sprayed it with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls Mist.

I used the Tim Holtz On the Edge Die - Townscape.  I cut it out using Grunge Paper and then coloured the houses using Distress Inks.  I then put on some Picket Fence Distress Stain on the roof and dried that then added some Distress Stickles for texture and dimension.  Next I used Glossy Accents to stick it onto my tag.

I then cut out two leaf sprays from the Bigz Tattered Pine Cone die and then the berries from the Bigz Holly Branch die to make the spray at the top of the tag.  I inked the leaf sprays with Evergreen Bough from the Seasonal Distress Inks range.  I then used pearl stickles to do the edged.

I love a simple idea like this that make a simple gift more special.

Daycare Days

I so love the photos that the boys had at daycare this year.  This one of Will is just so cute.  He has such a cheeky look on this face - I just love it!!

I have used the We R Memory Keepers Yankee Doodles paper range for this layout.  I have used a Tim Holtz Borderline Barbed wire mask on the base cardstock.

I have continued the barbed wire theme, by drawing it around the edge of the base cardstock and on the red patterned paper.  I like all the different layers in this photo.

To add a little dimension I have stuck down this cool little number 4 embellishment that matches the paper range.  I have also distressed the photo and corner of the paper.  I also added a little bit journalling.  I used a journal card from the 4x6 paper pad and then added a star sticker and colour in the rest.

This is a cute little layout that really draws your attention to the photo.

Creative Feet

This  is a quick layout that I did to play with some new stamps that I got the other week.  I took this photo of the feet of some of my crafting friends that were in visiting Pages 2 Scrap.

I used the new Picket Fence Distress Stain on the edges of the layout.

I then used a used a border screen and distress ink to create the background.

I also stamped some images with Versamark and clear embossing powder, then inked over it with distress ink.  I just love how it resisted the ink.

I needed something for the corner of this photo, so I went to my trusty Martha Stewart Monarch Butterfly punch.

Just love this quote.

Finishing Projects - Sizzix Class

One of our suppliers holds a fantastic creative event every year in May.  At this event we get to do lots of classes with teachers from the manufacturers.  It is 3 days of classes and of course we also get to shop in the warehouse.

We generally share the classes between the staff.  This year I participated in the Sizzix class.  We got to create this fun banner using this chipboard album.  This project has been sitting in my scrap room unfinished since we got back - yes I know how bad that is.  So I finally got it out and finished it off.

We used the Tim Holtz Paper Rosette die to make these embellishments.  The background was done using Core'dinations cardstock then running it through the Big shot using various embossing folders.

We also used acetate in a flower die and then embossed it with the Big Shot to create this cute flower embellishment.

It was a fun class to do and get to actually get to sit down and do a class.

Got your nose...

Just a very quick and simple layout.  I just love this photo of Will and Joe.

I did add a little Crackle Accents to the stars for a bit of dimension.

The Boys - Part 2

This is another layout that I have done from the page kit of the We R Memory Keepers Vintage T range.  This time I have used a picture of Joe that Phil took when he was practicing for a wedding shoot.  This is one of my fav pictures of Joe.  I just love his eyes.  He is such a good looking boy - apparently he takes after his father!!

This is one of the chipboard shapes that comes with the kit.  I love the wings.  The saying is one of my favourites too.

I love that this kit included the brads.  Why is it that three in a row looks soo cool??

The Boys - Part 1

This is another layout using We R Memory Keepers papers and embellishments.  This time I have used the page kit from the Vintage T range.  I have to say that this is one of the best male ranges that I have seen in a while.  The page kits come with everything that you will need to do a double page layout.  I have changed this layout around a little as I wanted to use these photos of the boys at daycare.  They are such cheeky boys.

The kits also include some great chipboard elements.  They are fun and easy to use.

Don't you just love this You Rock! chipboard.  I am not sure that my boys would even know what a tape is!!

Just for Fun...

Okay, so this post is just because I like this photo, nothing crafty or informative.

The other day I was playing around with my camera and took this photo of the jeans that I was wearing.  I really like the photo and thought that I would share it with you.

New Distress Inks

I am so in love with the Seasonal Series of Distress Inks by Tim Holtz and Ranger.  We have just got the Winter 2011 set in store at Pages 2 Scrap this week.  These are a special limited edition set of 3 inks that Range are only producing in limited supply.  Once sold that is it they are gone.

The colours are so amazing.  I totally love the Iced Spruce and cannot wait to use it on some layouts, maybe with a bit of glimmermist over the top to add that extra bit of sparkle.

Yummy

Just how good is this?  This was the yummy breakfast that I had at Peterson's Champagne House.  My lovely husband Phil took me to my favourite winery in the Hunter Valley, NSW.  I not only got this totally yummy breakfast, 2 cups of devine coffee, but I got to buy a case of the best Sparking Pink wine there is.  Dolce Per Tutti - Sparking Moscato it is the best EVER.

I am so lucky to have such a wonderful husband.  At the end of this month we will have been married for 14 years.  We are going to spend our anniversary down in Melbourne at the lovely Windsor Hotel.  I cannot wait.

Umbrella Man

I have only just started playing with working on canvas.  This was my first solo attempt.  I really was not sure what I was doing but I actually love the result.  I started out with a text paper background.  I have done several layers to add a little dimension.  Then I discovered the Tim Holtz Umbrella Man die.  I wanted to create the feeling of being the one in the crowd that stands out.

I have used the Viva Precious Metal Turquoise all over the canvas in different thicknesses.  I then used the Viva Croco Crackling Colour - Transparent over the top.

The variation to the crackle is so much fun to play with.  It looks great as a background or even over the top as I have done it here.  It was exactly the effect that I was looking for on this canvas.

Happy Halloween... Trick or Treat??

Well we have had a very interesting Halloween.  The boys did get to go Trick or Treating and they were very happy with their treats.  Charlie was a very cute Superman, Will a very giggly Batman and Joe went as a Patient.  See his arm??  Yes that is a real broken arm.

We got a call from the school today (Monday 31st October) to say that Joe had fallen playing footy and hurt his arm.  Long story short he has broken his wrist in two places.  You can see the breaks (bumps) in the x-ray.  We could not believe it.  Charlie had only had his cast removed on Thursday and less than a week later Joe breaks his arm.  Guess that's what it means to have 3 boys.

Viva Decor Canvas

I was so lucky to be able to participate in a class by Rachel Greig from Darkroom Door.  Rachel is an amazing teacher and I was so pleased that we were able to have her teach again at Pages 2 Scrap.  This canvas showcases the different Viva Decor products and the different ways that you can use them.

This tile was done using the Ferro as a background.  The dimension that you can achieve is just amazing.  I also just love how well the Precious Metal Colours highlight the dimensions.

This tile was done using the Croco for the background.  It does take a while to actually show the cracks but it is definately worth the wait.

This tile was done using the Terra and a heat gun.  The way that it bubbles is really cool.  Depending on how thick or thin you apply it will give different effects.

This was a fantastic class to get to participate in.  I am not totally addicted to the Viva Decor range of products.  I am so lucky that we stock them at Pages 2 Scrap.

My New Scrap Room

This is my new scrap room.  As you walk in the door you will see that there is lots of space to move around and lots of great storage.

I have a 6 seater table in the room (2 chairs are at the kids computer table).  There is lots of natural light.  It is a great space to scrap in.

This cabinet I have to share with some of the good china!!  But there is plenty of room for my some of my paperpads, stamps, books and india inks.

I found this little storage box at a junk yard.  It is just the perfect size for the india ink bottles and the Martha Stewart Micro Beads.  I also just love the way that it fits in this space.

This section has the custom made storage unit that we had designed at the store.  This is perfect for all the Art Bin storage boxes and a perfect fit for all those pizza boxes.

Yes the advantage of being a store owner is that I happen to have a lot of Tim Holtz dies.  I just love them.  They are a tad addictive.

This is just an old office desk that gives me plenty more space.  This area is great for using the cuttlebug or spraying for Glimmermist.

This storage unit is where I keep my photos and other little embellishments.  Also a must in any scrap room is the music!!.
