Daddy's Little Helper

Phil was calling out to me a little while ago.  He was out in the garage fixing his car.  I got out there and this is what I see.

It was so cute to see Charlie under the car helping Phil.  He had to lay down under the car just like his daddy.  He was passing Phil tools and trying to help fix Daddy's car.

So I had to run back inside and get the camera. Moments like these are perfect for capturing on film. Even better to scrap with.

Christmas Party 2010

What a totally fantastic day.  For the staff Christmas party this year I decided to surprise everyone with a trip to the Hunter Valley (NSW) in a stretch Hummer.  What a way to travel.  I even threw in a few fake hints to throw the staff off!!  Got to love a good surprise.  So we headed off from our place to the Hunter.

Our first stop was Peterson Champage House.  The first place I had to go here was the Chocolate Shop.  Have to say, I so love the smell when you walk into the shop.  We then headed off to our private wine tasting on the deck overlooking the vineyard.  Our tasting guid, Joe the Kiwi was great fun.

After Peterson's we headed off to Tempus Two.  We had a private cheese tasting at the Smelly Cheese shop.  There were lots of gourmet foods to be tasted and purchased.  And I did!!  We then headed off to The Hunter Resort for lunch and our own private dining room.  The food was fantastic and very tasty.  After lunch we all felt like a nanna nap, instead we just chilled out and had a couple of drinks.

We then headed to Pokolbin Estate for some more yummy food tasting including olives, jams and olive oils.  We also had some great entertainment from a bonds underwear model.  What an experience!!

Our last stop was a little added extra.  We headed back to Tempus Two for some yummy gelato.  This was a perfect end to a perfect day.  We then all piled back into the Hummer and headed home.  I am so glad that I was able to have such a great day with the staff.  I really love being able to show my appreciation for the people that work for me and make my job so much easier.  Thanks to you all!!

The Shenton Family 2010

Wow this year has gone so quickly.  It has not been the best of years for our family, but it is still easy to pick out some things that I really loved about this year.  This is a double page layout that I completed in my Bigpicture Class.

I am not sure that I like our ages on the page but it does add to it.  Phil is not even 40 yet, but he will turn 40 on 18 December, so not long now.  I have to say that I struggled to remember my age!!   Is that normal?? This layout is pretty simple but really effective.

This was my favourite part of the layout.  I got to write what I love best about my kids.  I am not really into journalling but this was easy.  I am so lucky that I have Phil.  He is an amazing photographer.  He always seems to just capture the boys perfectly.

I love my family so much and I am so lucky to have them.  Family is not always there, so make sure you capture them now.  Once a memory is gone is it fogotten forever.  Scrap it and it will never be forgotten.

The Eyes have it

This is another 11" x 8.5" layout.  This is a great photo of Joe.  Phil was preparing for a wedding shoot by using the kids in different locations.  I just love Joe's eyes in this photo.  He has so much expression in his eyes.

I cut out several gears from Grunge paper using the Gadget Gears die.  I inked them with Black Soot Distress ink and then used clear embossing powder to give this cool effect.  I used a heat gun and gave them a good blasting of heat.  The embossing powder was really bubbling and they looked fantatic when they cooled down.

Scardey Cat

This page was great fun to do.  This is a picture of our cat Dora (yes Dora the Explorer).  I have used lots of the new Tim Holtz dies.

I have used the Rickety House Die.  I cut two and inked one with Black Soot Distress Ink and then clear embossed it.  The second one I inked with Bard Door and a little Black Soot on the edges.  I then used foam mounting tape to stick them together.  The fence was cut from Kraft cardstock using the On the Fence die.  I then typed the words for the title on the computer, printed onto white Bazzil cardstock and cut it out.

For the tree I used the Tim Holtz Branch Tree die.  It was cut out from Grunge paper.  I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink and then clear embossed the tree.

The black card stock was 11" x 8.5".  I also used a chipboard Ghost that I coloured white. (Thanks Sherry).

December Calendar Page

The very last page of my Calendar Pages at Pages 2 Scrap.  For December I went with a slightly non-traditional Christmas theme.  I have used stamps from both Darkroom Door and Tim Holtz.  I just love to use tags and these stamps.  Clear embossing the images and then using Distress Inks to colour the tags is becoming a favourite passtime.

I finished the calendar section off by stamping around the edges and then using a silver Sharpie Marker to write the numbers.  I used Thickers for the wording.  Love the red glitter look.

To finish off the tags I tied ribbons on each one.  I used a different colour ribbon for each to match with the individual tag.

November Calendar Page

Well my Calendar class is now finished.  On Saturday we completed our last two pages.  November is my wedding anniversary and I have some lovely sepia photos that I wanted to use.  I selected two papers from the November Kaiser After Five range.  I also used the new Kaiser Pearl Flourishes.  They are great forthat little finishing touch.  The butterfly stamp I used is from the Pink Paislee House of Three range.

For the calendar section I used a Unity Stamp flourish and their devine Tree.  I just love it.  I also used some stamped words from Unity.

To finish it all off I used this fantastic pearl and bling that we sell in store at Pages 2 Scrap.

Challenged by Sherry

I am not used to be challenged (except for my real job).  On Saturday night I went for a scrapover at Sherry's house.  It was great.  Sherry was looking at some of my photos and came across this one of Will.  She then issued me a challenge.  Scrap the photo, using white and red only, must use 3 circle embellishments.  She then added and it must be 11" x 8.5".

Now that made me think.  I have never scrapped a 11" x 8.5" layout.  So this is what I came up with.  I have used several metal embellishments (Sherry said had to be red).  I used Copic markers to colour them red.

I used red and white Thickers for my title.  I also had some red and white butchers string.  This worked really well around the layout.

I used a small piece of Tim Holtz film Strip Ribbon.  This was very effective on the layout.  I really love how the metal embellishments turned out after being colours with Copics.

I really enjoyed this challenge and have now scrapped several more 11" x 8.5" layouts.  Think I may be getting addicted to them!!

Week 5 - Blue

Well this is a week and colour that I love.  Having 3 boys I guess it is a colour that I seem to work with heaps.  This picture was taken by Phil.  He was using the boys as practice for his first wedding shoot.

I was lucky enough this week that our order of the new Tim Holtz Tissue Tape 'Tidings' arrived.  So I have used this on the layout.  I have coloured some embellishments using Copic markers.

This button flower is from Tim Holtz and was white but using Copic markers, matches perfectly now.

Green - Colour! Or is it Colour?

Well week 4 is all done!  Green was an interesting week.  I do really love green an find that it is so easy to scrap with.  Even just adding a little slice of green can change the whole design of a page.

I just love the leaves that I created for this page.  I cut the leaves out of Grunge Paper using the Tim Holtz die Tattered Leaves, then inked and clear embossed the leaves.  Once cooled I scrunched the leave up to add a cool texture and dimension.

Week 3 - Green

Week 3 in my Big Picture Colour Class is Green.   I just love green.   Green is such a soothing colour.  It looks great on most pages.

This picture of Will was taken on Mothers Day 2007 only a two days after he was born.  What a lovely way to spend Mothers Day.  This weeks class is all about green and going green.  The black cardstock is actually packaging from a 6x6 album that I am working on.  I have also used white Thickers and inked them as I did not have any green ones.

Orange Layout

Well here is my layout for week 2 - Yellow/Orange.  I had so many picture to choose from but I just love this one of Charlie.  The face says it all.

I just love the faux pleat technique that was used this week.  I can see that I will find lots more uses for this one.  I have also used the Marth Stewart Monarch Butterfly punch, butchers twine and a Tim Hotlz metal embellishment.

Colour Class - Week 2 - Orange and Yellow

Well I am now in week two of my Big Picture colour class.  This week it is a double class Orange and Yellow.  I found the perfect photo for the orange page.  This was an amazing dust storm.  This is the view we woke up to.  It was totally amazing.

I have also used a tag, distressed and inked the edges. I love how the Black Soot distress ink makes it look like it has burnt edges.  I have put a Tim Holtz metal embellishment on to add some dimension.

The next page was yellow.  I found this much more difficult.  One finding a photo with yellow.  This picture of Joe was as good as it was going to get.  I ended up using string and a chipboard circle that I painted with Viva Precious Metal - Mother of Pearl Paint.  I also used a Tim Holtz button.

I did not have any letter in yellow.  So I cut one freeahnd.  I do love how the chipboard circle turned out and I just love the Tim Holtz button.  Think I am going to have to get some more of those!!.

Red Layout

Okay so here is my red layout from my Big Picture class.  This is very first time that I have used stitching on a page.  I have used lots of different techniques and product on this page.  I am not sure if I really like this layout but I think that it is growing on me.

I have used Grunge board painted with Glimmer Glam for my flourish.  I just love the way that the flourish turned out.  It is such a rich red.  I used a technique shown in the bonus class video for the flowers.  These are actually a kaiser cream flower sprayed with Glimmer mist and then sprinked with embossing powder and then melted with a heat gun.  It gives the flowers a really cool effect.

Well I am off to start week 2.

All about Red

I have been a little behind with my colour class.  This is from week one - Red.  I have enjoyed discovering red.  It is such a vibrant colour.

I just love this photo of Will.  It was the perfect photo to use for this layout.  I am not really a fan of red but after doing this layout I really love it.

Here is a close up of the flower.  This is the Martha Stewart Chrysanthemum punch.  A customer showed us how to use the punch to make these great flowers.

More to come....

What I have been up to...

The last few days have been a little different from my normal week. On Friday I got some news that my Aunty had some chest pains and was admitted to hospital and that she was going to have to have an angiogram to see if there were any blockages. Andrea is more like a sister to me and I knew that I had to fly up to Brisbane and be there with her. So off I went on Sunday, bag full of scrapping stuff. (notice the mags on the bed!!)

Here are some of the tags that we did in the hosptial. I think the nurses thought we were a little nutty.

Andrea got the all clear. So on Tuesday she was allowed to go home. We knew that she was okay when she asked to stop at a scrapbook store on the way home!! But we made her go home and rest instead. So on Wednesday I took her to the scrapbook shop. I just love looking at other scrapbook shops, I get some many good ideas.
For afternoon tea we went to Max Brenner's for a celebration of good health!! Don't you just love what I had to celerate!!

Colour! Or is it Color?

One of our teachers at Pages 2 Scrap sent me a link to a fantastic class being taught by Nic Howard.

These are my tags that I have prepared for the pre-class project. Playing with colour is so much fun. There are so many simple techniques on these tags. Creating my own leaves was great fun and something that I know I will use on more projects.

This is my favourite tag. I just love the music paper (scored from the Salvos) and the key just pulls it all together.

The beginning of something good!!

Okay well the time has come for me to go back on a health kick. I did so well last year when I did Weight Watchers, but like most of us I fell off the wagon and went back to all my bad habits.

I saw these photos yesterday and did not like what I saw. So I am ready to get back to losing some weight again.

I am very lucky that I have a great friend Bec that is going to be doing this with me. I find that if I have someone to push me along and be reportable to then I do so much better. Bec and I have already been support texting this morning. I will be posting my progress on a regular basis.

I have friends coming over for afternoon tea and dinner today. I have been out shopping for healthier options. We will be having fresh fruit with Nestle Dark Chocolate Dessert for dipping. This dessert was fantastic when I was doing Weight Watchers. For dinner a simple BBQ with salad.

My calendar class for October will focus on Halloween. We will be using Distress Crackle paint and a fantastic corner and border punch.

We will also use a few different Glimmer Mist techniques. I have used the Tim Holtz masks on this page.

Once the class is done I will post the full picture.
