2011 Layout...

Last year (2010) I did a Big Picture online class and they layout above was one of my favourite layouts.  I decided that i would do another one for 2011 (below).  I think it is a great way show how things change in a year.

It is amazing to see how much the kids have grown in only 12 months.  I have changed the layout a bit but it is just such an easy layout to do.

I used some white letters and coloured them to suit the colour panels.  When I put the coloured letters onto the layout it just did not work.  So I just used my journalling pen to outline the letters and put small dots on it.  You can see by the photos above that it make a huge difference.

I just love how the cluster worked out.  It was just so simple to do.  It is just a little bit from a transparency, then I cut a Grungeboard banner and hung a WOW chipboard heart from it using a Tim Holtz metal chain.

Here is a close up of the Heart.  I have used a white Sharpie Poster Paint marker to write on the heart, the banner and do the journalling on all the pages.

I am going to try to do this page every year.  It will give me a great history of the changes each year.

Mini Book Make n Take

At our recent retreat at Pages 2 Scrap I had to do a Make n Take.  I wanted to do something simple and easy but the ladies would love.  At CHA I did a Make n Take at Prima using a technique to make a cute mini book from 1 sheet of patterned paper.  So the night before retreat I sat down and created this cute little mini book.

I did a bit of stamping, and used this cute little craft mini envelope that hides a little tag.  I also found some  little photo's of Will that I could use in the book

I wanted to use something a little different so I put a mini silver bulldog clip at the top to hold one of the pages together.

To help hold the mini book together I used Tim Holtz Tissue tape at the top and bottom.  I also used his film strip and attached it using the Tiny Attacher.  This is a great little book and a very quick and easy project.

USA - Part Two - More Vegas

The first night (Monday night) in Vegas we were lucky enough to go to see Cirque Du Soleil - The Beatles.  It was the most amazing show.  I could have watched it over and over again.  The only bad part was that it just did not seem to go long enough.  Eventually (about 3am) we got into bed.

On Tuesday, after a wee little sleep in, we headed off to look at all the different hotels.  We happen to make a trip to Paris.  The picture above is actually taken inside the hotel on our way up to the lift to head up the the Eiffel Tower.  We were told that it was half the size of the real Eiffel Tower.  The view from up the tower was just amazing.

After soooo much walking and even more walking, mmmmm yet more walking.  We got to go to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum back at the Venetian.  It was great fun but I have to say they were a little creepy at time.  I am sure that they were watching me!!

But.. I did get to have a cuddle with Hugh Hefner and I also had a cuddle with one of the Bunnies (but I cannot show that pic!!).  After the wax museum we headed off to our front row tickets at the Phantom of the Opera - way cool.

After Phantom we went for a wander around the Venetian and eventually found out way to Venice.  WOW is all I can say.  I have never seen such an amazing set up.  We even got to go on a ride on a gondola.  I was wonderful fun.

Isn't the picture above just amazing.  What makes it more amazing is that this is on the second level of our hotel.  I just loved walking through the streets, the clouds just seemed to follow you.

USA - Part One - Vegas

Well we had the most fantastic time on our trip to CHA.  Before we got down to work we spent 3 days in Vegas.   Vegas is a world of it's own.

You know you are in Vegas the minute you get off the plane.  It is hard to believe that the minute you walk from the plane you see slot machines.  They are all the way through the airport.  It was just so weird to see people sitting in the airport playing the slot machines.

We were so lucky to the stay at the Venetian Hotel.  I cannot say enough just how amazing this place is.  We had a massive sweet.  The beds were, as Sarah said, just like sleeping on a marshmallow.   I so did not want to get out of bed.  In fact the first night/morning we actually slept in way past were we had planned to.  But the bed was just so comfy.

The photo above was taken in the reception area of the hotel.  Down the end of the hallway was the casino.  Yes we did play the slots.  We also had a wonderful meal sometime after midnight the first evening!!

More to come soon.

I Love ...

I just love my life and am so lucky that I get to share it with my amazing husband Phil.  Sometime we don't tell the ones that we love that we love them.  We should tell them every day just how much they mean to us.  I love Phil with all my heart and cannot imagine life without him.

Thanks for stopping by.

March Calendar Page ...

My March page for my calendar needed a title and because I had not used any Tissue Wrap - I decided to create a simple tag.  So this is what I started with.  A small luggage tag and some Tissue Wrap.

After a bit of sticking, some Distress Stains, a bit of Distress Ink and the heat gun, this is what I ended up with.  I added the word 'March' and some jute string.  All done.  The perfect title for the page.

Here is the completed page.  Phil took this photo a while ago when he was doing some practice for a wedding shoot.  The boys have just grown up so much.

So as I said in my previous calendar post, I wanted to add a quote or saying to each month.  This is so nice and the boys just have the most lovely smiles.
