Yeah for LA!

Well we are finally here in LA.  The flight was long but fun with so many of my friends on there with us.  When we got to LA airport there was a lot of construction.  Just loved this sign.  We got into our waiting shuttle and headed off to the hotel.  We met up with some friends from another scrapbook store in Sydney and headed off to see LA.

We are staying not far from the new LAPD building. We walked up and had a look at the badges of the officers that have died in duty. It went back as far as 1907. It was just amazing.

We met a Detective and he told us that we could walk right up to the top of the City Hall building.  It was fantastic.  The view was amazing.  There were so many sites that we could see including the Hollywood sign.

Then it was time for some shopping.  The Jewellery District was stunning.  6 city blocks of bling.  We headed back to the hotel finally, had the yummist Japanese dinner then off to bed.

Thanks for stopping by.

1 Quick Tag

I was playing around with tags (yes again) the other night.  I just love how this tag turned out.  I have used a Pitch Black Dabber on the edges of the tag.  I then inked the whole tag using Rusty Hinge, Fired Brick, Barn Door & Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks.  I then stamped the heart with Crimson Archival Ink and the Curly Flame with Jet Black Archival Ink.

To add the sparkle effect on the flames and the heart I have used the Spica Glitter Pens from the Copic Range.  I love the way these pens give a subtle sparkle effect.  Both stamps are from the Rockstar set from Tim Holtz.

Oh I forgot to say that I was actually scrapping with Sherry and Jane.  What a hoot to scrap by webcam.  It was such a fun night and I did not even feel weird laughing my butt off with no one else in the room.  Thanks for a great night ladies,

Playing with Tags

I just love to play with tags.  It gives me a chance to play around with lots of different techniques.  I love using the same technique to give different effects on the tags.  All of the tags above I have just inked and stamped.  I have used Snow Cap on the edges of the all of the tags to create a resist technique.

On the first tag I have used several different shades of brown distress inks.  I have then stamped the tag using Archival inks in both Sepia and Russet.  I have distressed the edges of this tag and then crumpled it.

On this tag I have used Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalde and Rusty Hinge distress inks.  I then stamped the text and clocks at the top and bottom corners.

In this final tag I swiped the distress inks directly onto my craft sheet.  I then sprayed the ink with water using my Mini Mister.  I then dragged my tag through the ink to create this effect.  I think stamped the tag and it is all done.

Tags are a great way to play around.  If you find a technique that you like, try it on different tags.  It is great fun.

How to scrap around a cat..

On New Year's Day I was doing a little scrapping.  I was looking up stuff on my computer when the monitor moved.  How strange.  So I had to have a look behind my screen and here is Jessie our new kitten.

She was looking way to comfortable.  Here she is sitting my some of my tools and some left over grungeboard.  She was not too pleased that I had disturbed her!

When she finally got up she moved over to see that I was doing.  I think she may actaully be a Tim Holtz fan too.

Thanks for stopping by.

Me...

I have not posted a layout for a while.  There has been way too many fun things going on.  This is one of the layouts that I completed for the colour class.  This was for the purple page.  The flowers in this layout are handmade.  I have also used alcohol ink to colour a Tim Holtz facet.  They are so much fun to play with.

I have also used cut offs of some netting that I had used in a previous layout.  The black flourish is from Kaisercraft.  The flowers have been made by cutting out the petals, using a cat eye shape.  I then inked the edges with distress ink.  The petals are then creased in the center to give dimension.  They are really easy to do and very effective.

The last few days....

Over the last few days of 2010 I enjoyed spending some time with family.  We had family come for Christmas.  There were lots of presents, laughs and good times.  Having little kids helps to make Christmas that little bit more special.

Poor little Charlie was unlucky to have developed a disorder called Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP).  This is a disorder where the platelets are very low.  This means that any little bump can result in the body not being able to clot the blood and leaves lovely bruises like the one on his eye.  He will be okay in a couple of months.

We also went to a friends place with the boys.  They just loved getting to ride in this little bath that was being pulled along by the ride on mower.  They were giggling like little girls.  I so loved watching the boys being able to run around in all the open space.  They just loved it too.

Thanks for stopping by.
